The following platforms have been selected for this purpose:

Option 1

Independent Self Study 

You will be provided a course syllabus to follow which will outline all required assignments, forms, and resources to complete your professional portfolio.  Additionally, you will be provided a link to access CDA modules along with a digital workbook and Competency Standards book to assist you in completing the CDA portfolio requirements.  All completed work would be uploaded via DM inside our Slack group, which you will receive an invitation to join upon receipt of your registration.  Your instructor will be available by email or DM for support and feedback.

Cost:  $325 (includes class materials and digital book only)

Time Commitment:  Work at your own pace - complete the course at your leisure.

Course Technology Requirements

Heading 1

 Slack

This format is an online workspace that will enable us to come together as a group to engage directly by sharing work, accessing documents, exchanging ideas, and documenting class attendance.  You will be able to have access to class agendas, assignments, and handouts, and more importantly you will be able to engage with your instructor in real-time and in group conversations to help you understand and process the CDA competency standards more clearly. An invitation to join us in SLACK will be sent to you upon receipt of your registration payment.

Zoom

   This tool will allow us to engage in video-conferencing in a virtual classroom right from the comfort of your home.  This is a distance education platform.  You will be invited to join your Zoom classroom by clicking a link and utilizing a code to enter your session.  We will utilize this service to broadcast any live instruction in real time and recordings for future access. The conference sessions will provide an opportunity for participants to engage live with your instructor to explain assignments, review the agenda, and process with you, your understanding of the CDA Competency Standards

Google docs

May be used for quizzes, assessments, and some handouts.  Fillable documents will be uploaded in Slack for easy access and use.  You will be guided when and how to access google documents.

Additional course supplies needed:

Textbooks

CDA Competency Standards Book (if selecting Option 2 you will also need) The Essentials For Working With Young Children textbook.

3 ring binder (2 1/2 inch)

                  - 1 pack of Dividers (total 10)

                  - 1 pack of sheet protectors (at least 50)

You will be required to complete the CDA professional portfolio (the binder), which consists of a compilation of your writing assignments - Competency Statements and Resource Collection Items.  You will learn more about these things once you have your books and complete the orientation inside of session 1.

Desktop computer, laptop, Ipad (with Wifi access) for typing all assignments and conducting research; and access to a printer for printing documents.

Upon completion of your Professional Portfolio you will receive a certificate of completion for 120 clock hours, which accounts for the amount of time you spend in preparation for your CDA credential completing assignments and engaging in course activities

You will receive training and support  in the following 8 CDA Subject Areas:

Planning a safe and healthy learningenvironment
                 
Advancing children's physical and intellectual development

             
Supporting children's social and emotional development​

Building productive relationships with families

Managing an effective program operation

Maintaining a commitment to professionalism

Observing and recording children's behavior

Understanding principles of child development and learning

Next Steps:

1. Complete the attached enrollment form and submit to ccpd4ece@gmail.com indicating your readiness to begin the training.

An invoice will be sent to you to complete the registration payment. 

 

2. Schedule your Orientation via Zoom - live with your Instructor. 

 

3. Accept your invitation to join the CDA class inside the SLACK group.  Setup your profile and follow instructions posted inside of each session.
